Although Doha is a little-known travel destination amongst tourists, a trip to this picturesque city is nothing short of a walk into the realms of fantasy. A luxurious stay experience at a breathtaking resort, a stop at The Pearl for an immersive walk across to the Porto Arabia boardwalk, a meander through the maze of Souq Waqif’s alleyways for an authentic arabic lunch, a trip to the stunning Museum of Islamic Art, a short drive back to the souq to see how it transforms in the evening, and this is not even half of what this city had to offer to keep it's tourists elated and amused. This city had me anticipating in no time, the next few days were all a streak of too much to see and such little time!

Sharq Village and Spa, a majestic property built like a traditional Qatari village, blends a unique traditional desert castle design with modern amenities. The hotel features two super chic pools, beach access with recreational activities, a string of restaurants, its own traditional Arab bazaar and an award winning Six-Senses Spa. A resort so exquisite, you'll feel like you're sight-seeing even while you're exploring the property. They call them Doha's most regal suites, designed for royalty- and I couldn't agree more. Nestled among 14 luxury villas, the expansive hotel rooms and suites at Sharq Village & Spa in Doha combine rich Qatari-style decor with plush bedding and marble bathrooms, and soothing views of the palm-fringed coastline.
Al Hazm, the multi-billion riyal, Italian-inspired complex is located in Al Markhiya. Al Hazm, which means “the natural hill” in the Qatari dialect, is situated on a hill near Lejbailat signal. The complex was built using more than 41,000 tons of marble and stone, specially shipped to Qatar from Jerusalem and Tuscany in Italy, and specialist stone masons were brought to Qatar from Rajastan to carve intricate designs throughout the buildings. Many of Al Hazm’s features mirror those of Italy’s Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, one of the world’s oldest shopping malls, housed in a 19th century double arcade in Milan. Two broad walkways run the length of the avenue, and numerous wide piazzas and terraces throughout the complex allow plenty of space for strolling and people-watching.

The next stop was Sharq Village and Spa's elegant persian restaurant Parisa, for a unique fine dining experience. Relishing the intimate ambiance with artful decor or taking in the picturesque sea views of Doha Bay from the outdoor terrace, with a glass of wine in hand, there's no better way to savour the authentic persian delicacies and scrumptious kebabs from the charcoal grill.
A new day at this stunning property called for a walk around this serene beach resort reminiscent of a sheikh's palace with a maze of courtyards, calming pools, cascading fountains and verdant greenery with stunning Doha views. I sat by the beach listening to the sound of the waves and looking at the clouds floating in the clear blue sky and the sand sparkling in the sunlight. Luxury villas with Arabic decor, luxe interiors, soothing sea, pool or garden views from each terrace.. All I could think of was how majestic this location would be for a destination wedding, an anniversary or a birthday celebration!

And then it happened, I was swept off my feet, my heart skipped a beat and I knew I'd never witness such calming beauty ever again. Royal Villa- a bath tiled with prized “open-book” Brazilian blue marble, featuring an oversized deep soaking Jacuzzi studded with blue mosaic veined with 18K gold, marble vanity countertops, elegant custom-built King Bed, dressed with 1050-thread count Frette linens, interior and exterior Majlis in the Arabic tradition, large outdoor balcony with sweeping views in all directions, large walk-in closets, indoor swimming pool, cascading waterfall and fountain, terrace dining area for eight and lounge seating, spacious veranda with panoramic ocean views, plus an indoor temperature-controlled swimming pool and jacuzzi and a two-story cascading waterfall! If that isn't what heaven feels like, I don't know what does!
The Pearl Qatar is built on an artificial island that resembles a string of gleaming pearls, at one of Qatar’s major pearl diving sites in the country’s history. Hence, the name – The Pearl Qatar pays homage to Qatar’s reputation as a leading pearl trader in Asia. It is often dubbed as the Beverly Hills of Qatar because the largest of the islands off the West Bay coast featuring Mediterranean-style yacht-lined marinas host a range of luxury villas and 3 five-star hotels. It's waterfront promenades are lined with live musical acts, cafes and restaurants serving every taste – from a refreshing ice cream to a five-star dining experience. The Pearl is a popular visitor attraction by virtue of its chic elegance, outdoor atmosphere and al fresco dining. Hence its inviting description as the ‘Arabian Riviera’.

To come to Doha and appreciate the Majestic Architecture and Treasure Trove of Qatar’s Art, History and Culture at the Museum of Islamic Art is an absolute must. The museum is designed by a Pritzker Prize-winning veteran architect and the majestic structure of the museum draws a lot of influence from ancient Islamic architecture, notably the Ibn Tulun Mosque in Cairo. Five-storeys high, it houses wealth of Islamic art and a treasure trove of historical resources, boasting an impressive collection of ceramics, glass, metalwork, manuscripts and textiles dating back to the seventh century.
Back at the hotel, I reserved my afternoon to experience Sharq Village's exquisite treatments at the Six Senses Spa. Modeled after a traditional Qatari settlement, Sharq Village Spa transports you to a delightful sanctuary with an authentic Middle Eastern atmosphere. Lightly decorated winding alleys lead you to four immersive spa areas, each with its own distinct theme. Specially developed based on local Arabic culture and products used thousands of years ago, these traditional remedies are still used today and the Six Senses Spa will take you back in time to experience the traditional benefits in true Arabian style and in the comfort of your very own private spa village house. I went for the Hammam ritual. Based on the Amayyed era where Damascus was the bustling capital of this Ancient Arabian Empire. Rose Damascena was treasured then as it is today for its healing, rejuvenating and uplifting properties. The Hammam is based upon research of the ancient methods and secrets of the Moroccan bath and uses present day knowledge to create a scented Hammam ritual. These treatments will leave you feeling cleansed and relaxed, yet alert and energized. Truly a spa experience that left me feeling like royalty!
Mall of Qatar. Shoppers in Qatar are spoilt with choices as many new malls have opened gates recently, In this new establishment, dancers and acrobats take the audience on a journey to a new wonderful world. The entertainers perform spectacular shows while wearing LED costumes that light in the dark aided by special sound effects.
Souq Waqif. Doha’s most popular shopping area and one of the last traditional Arabic Markets of its kind in the Persian Gulf region. The Souq is packed with restaurants where you’re sure to find all sorts of delicious Arabic cuisine to please your fancy. This Souq is more than 100 years old and a cultural hotspot. Both locals and tourists love to hang out and explore the Souq. Souq Waqif includes a covered labyrinth lined with shops and stalls selling souvenirs, spices, handicrafts, gold, falconry and more.

The Horse Stables at Souq Waqif house Arabian horses. A short walk from the Falcon Souq, the horse stables are designed to give visitors a sense of a bygone era, when the prized Arabian horses played a major part in the everyday life of locals. These beautiful beasts were the Emir's horses and his private stable here on the outskirts of the souq in Doha. Just off the Corniche end of Al Jasra St, a pen is filled with feeding camels most of the day.
